Adventurous families from all over Renfrewshire will be going wild in the aisles this Sunday at a gala day with a difference. This year’s Renfrew Gala Day takes place at Robertson Park from 1pm until 4pm on Sunday 2 June 2019.
The theme of this year’s event is jungle – and to get involved in the day, families are being encouraged to pay tribute to their favourite wild creatures by donning crazy, colourful costumes.
A 300-strong parade will mark the start of the event – starting at Canal Street at 1pm, before trekking past Renfrew Town Hall, and then turning right along Inchinnan Road, heading for the park.
Inside Robertson Park, family activities include go karting, free face painting and a bouncy castle, and there will also be a funfair and rugby and football taster sessions.
The McMaster Centre tearoom will be serving food and drink, along with a selection of food vendors, and there will be plenty of bargains on offer at the stalls.
Local musicians and dancers will provide a feast for the eyes and ears, and there will also be a visit from a troupe of vintage fire engines.
As a precursor to the gala day, youngsters took part in a wild town trail competition around Renfrew’s shops and businesses to find hidden animal stickers. One intrepid explorer will be announced as the winner on Sunday.
Today’s (Sunday) Renfrew weather forecast: Cloudy this morning with rain and drizzle becoming light and patchy. Drier, brighter weather following from west this afternoon with some evening sunshine. Southerly winds freshening later. Temperature in the Robertson Park this afternoon around 14C. Maximum temperature 17 °C.
And the summer fun won’t stop after Renfrew – Paisley Barshaw Gala Day steps up next for another day jam-packed with family fun on Saturday 22 June.
