Good sports have got the answers on Twitter

COMPETITIVE athletes, a basketball player, gymnast and a cyclist were among those who showed they were good sports by taking part in Twitter question and answer sessions.

Renfrewshire Leisure’s Sports Services team have been running the #RLTwitterTakeover weekly online sessions and scores of people have been logging on to ask questions of the sportsmen and women via the social media channel.

St Mirren FC’s Player of the Year, Sam Foley took to Twitter on Tuesday, June 16 between 10am and noon to answer questions sent to him via the #RLTwitterTakeover hashtag.

Other sportsmen and women who have already taken part in the Twitter Question and Answer sessions are Scottish international basketball player, Chris Cleary; Paralympic athlete, Ross Paterson; GB Under-23 cycling team member, Lusia Steele; Commonwealth Games gymnast, Cara Kennedy; two times European and British Paralympic table tennis champion, Martin Perry; World Deadlifting Champion in 2018, powerlifter, Mark Fulton.

And on Tuesday, June 23, captain of the St Mirren women’s football team, Jane O’Toole (pictured above) will answer questions sent using the #RLTwitterTakeover hashtag.

Renfrewshire Leisure’s chairperson, Councillor Lisa-Marie Hughes said: “Our Twitter question and answer session have been very popular. The questions we’ve received have been brilliant.  The Sports Services team have been very creative in coming up with ways people can stay engaged with sport during the lockdown.”
