St Mirren have all to play for on Sunday

Scottish Premiership season 2018-2019 – Play-off Final – 1st Leg, Thursday 23 May
Dundee United: 0 vs St Mirren: 0

St Mirren and Dundee United had a goalless draw last night (Thursday 23 May) in the first leg of their Scottish Premiership play-off final at Tannadice Park, Dundee.

With Dundee United longing to end their three-year exile in the SPL, and St Mirren equally desperate to preserve their top-flight status for a second season, it was a tense contest.

St Mirren were unbeaten in their previous six matches, with manager Oran Kearney insisting his side were far better than when they played against United in the Scottish Cup last 16. And, with only five of that team that lost 2-1 playing last night, they performed with far superior resolve and organisation than at the February match.

Paisley FM’s MIke McLean viewed the match and commented: “St Mirren returned from Tannadice with a thoroughly deserved goalless draw.  The Buddies played the gaffer’s game plan to perfection ensuring they did not lose a quick goal in the opening exchanges and settled into a controlled and composed performance. The Buddies had a disciplined performance.  Manager Oran Kearney must be delighted with his team and the pendulum has surely swung towards St Mirren’s for the second leg match in Paisley on Sunday afternoon, May 26.”
