Renfrew Christmas Lights 2018 switch-on

On Saturday night, 24 November at 5.00pm, the Renfrew Christmas Lights were switched-on by Renfrewshire Council Provost Cameron to welcome the festive season 2018.

Renfrew Town Hall, like something out of a Disney movie, was alive with a technicolour of light as Renfrew started the festive season in style with a superb light show.

The day got started just after 12 noon with music on stage, the full fun of the fair along Renfrew High Street.  Although cold at 6C, everyone seemed to enjoy festive light spectacular.

At 5.00pm, Renfrewshire Provost Cameron was joined by the winner of her annual Christmas card design competition, nine year-old Ava from St Anne’s Primary School, Erskine, to turn on the Renfrew lights and set off the spectacular fireworks display from the roof of Renfrew Town Hall.

Provost Cameron said: “We’re right in the heart of our winter events season and the Renfrew Christmas lights switch on is always a highlight. There was fantastic entertainment on all afternoon – with carol singing, face painting, Santa’s reindeer and more, finishing with an unmissable fireworks display.”

Next Saturday, 1st December 2018, it is the turn of Johnstone for the Christmas Lights Switch-on extravaganza!
