RAH Paisley radio show starts this Wednesday

5th Jun 2022

Paisley FM is working in partnership with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde and the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Paisley, to bring a brand new weekly programme.

From Wednesday 8 June and every Wednesday thereafter, from 12 noon to 1.00pm, Paisley FM 107.5 will broadcast a weekly programme of songs, news, chat and messages from patients and loved ones.

Tune in on 107.5 FM, online at https://paisleyfm.co.uk/radio/  and on the Paisley FM mobile app.

Jim Connell will present the Royal Alexandra Hospital Radio Show and is looking forward to bringing hospital radio back to the RAH.

Jim said: “For me, community radio is broadcasting in the purest form; a direct connection with a recognisable audience and The Royal Alexandra Hospital Radio Show gives us an even stronger connection with listeners.

“I am looking forward to the huge variety that comes from such a format and of course, to making the connections with the patients, staff and service-users of the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Paisley.”

Norman Ross, director of Paisley FM 107.5 added: “We are delighted to have partnered with NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde to create this new show for the RAH.

“Having spent many happy years working in hospital radio, I have been lucky to see the positive impact these shows have on patients, staff and visitors. The Paisley FM team are thrilled to be joining the RAH community in this way, and we cannot wait for the first show.”

This new show actually builds on a successful hospital radio programme at Christmas 2020 which allowed people to submit song requests and messages to their families who were styaing in the RAH over the festive period.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde director Melanie McColgan commented: “We are thrilled that this partnership with Paisley FM will allow us to bring patients, staff and visitors a new radio show.  The RAH is at the hear of the community in Paisley, and this gives us another avenue to engage with the public and bring a bit of joy to people during perhaps stressful and uncertain times.

We know that the show staff previously organised, during the festive period in 2020, was hugely popular, so it’s great to be able to bring it back in this way.”

The new RAH radio show, follows the format of successful programmes, such as the Paisley FM Community Request Show (Sundays 2-4pm) and Erskine Veterans Radio (Tuesdays 12 noon and Saturdays 2pm).  These programmes are dedicated to boosting community spirit and combating loneliness, depression and anxiety.

Patients and staff at the RAH, Paisley and the general public will be able to tune-in on 107.5 FM and online at https://paisleyfm.co.uk/radio/ and also by using the Paisley FM App.

By using the free to download Paisley FM App (from your App store), music requests and messages can be submitted by and for family and friends staying or working in hospital.

You can also contact the programme by emailing: rahradio@paisleyfm.co.uk
