Paisley’s annual Sma’ Shot Day event which takes place this year on Saturday 4 July is going to be a bit different!
Due to the various restriction caused by the COVID-19 virus, for the first time, it will be a ‘virtual’ event with a full programme of online events and activities to celebrate this historical date in Paisley’s calendar.
And as Paisley and Renfrewshire’s very own radio station, Paisley FM 107.5 will also be involved in many aspects of this virtual day
Sma’ Shot Day 2020 is on Saturday 4 July when traditionally, the weavers and their families always took their holidays on the ‘first Saturday of the Fair’.
Sma’ Shot Day takes its name from a famous dispute between the local shawl weavers and manufacturers in the 19th century. This year, we’re not just celebrating the victory of the weavers, but also our fantastic key workers today.
We’ll kick things off with a mass online drum-off at 12noon – you are all invited to help make noise to mark the start of the day’s celebrations!
There will be a range of activities from film, dance, music and spoken word performances to online tutorials and workshops.
Listen out on Paisley FM 107.5 and online at paisleyfm.co.uk plus on smart-speak and the Paisley FM App for updates and information in the coming weeks as head towards a virtual Sma’ Shot Day 2020 on Saturday 4 July.
